There has been significant investment at Manchester Airport in the last few years, the third busiest airport in the UK. Manchester Airport’s Transformation Programme is a £1.3bn investment, first announced in 2015, which will revolutionise the customer and colleague experience at the airport and provide world class facilities.

In 2021 the Terminal 2 extension opened, doubling the size of the terminal and providing the latest technology in a bright, modern environment.

The second phase of the transformation will see the original Terminal 2 building refurbished to match the quality and functionality of the new extension, delivering a modern, state-of-the-art passenger experience throughout, and introducing an even greater array of shops, restaurants, and other facilities for those travelling through it.

The airport is owned and managed by Manchester Airport Holdings (trading as MAG), a holding company owned by the Australian finance house IFM Investors and the ten metropolitan borough councils of Greater Manchester, with Manchester City Council owning the largest stake.

Providing first class facilities for the staff that work there is just as important as the main terminal building upgrades.

Olympic House is the main office for all airport staff and the building was recently modernised to include luminaires which would help reduce energy usage.

Works included changes to the ground floor entrance/cafe/reception and the office floors above, including meeting rooms and a board room.

Dextra worked with airport owner MAG and contractor DL Electrical to help not only improve energy efficiency and provide luminaire upgrades but also to meet a high end, professional finish especially for the ground floor entrance lobby.
