Everton in the Community is one of the UK’s top sporting charities and firmly established on the world stage of community sports development. As Everton football club’s official charity, it is considered one of the Premier League’s leading community schemes due to the quality and reach of its various programmes.
Since 1988, Everton in the Community has been at the forefront of social intervention across Merseyside, not afraid to tackle issues which others shied away from.
Through its 240+ dedicated full-time staff and 160+ volunteers, the charity offers more than 40 programmes covering a range of social issues including health, employability, anti-social behaviour, crime, education, dementia, poverty, youth engagement, youth justice and disability.
Operating seven days a week, 365 days a year, Everton in the Community supports the most vulnerable and underprivileged members of local communities, and the charity aims to instil confidence in others by creating life-changing opportunities. Thousands of people have already benefited from the magnificent work they do.
In March 2023, Everton in the Community has become the first charity attached to a Premier League Club to open a purpose-built mental health and wellbeing hub.
The People’s Place provides a dedicated space for Everton in the Community to promote mental and physical wellbeing through its award-winning mental health provision.
The People’s Place also caters for a range of activities around sport, education and employment, all of which are proven to improve mental health. The building will also provide a layer of professional support with a team of GPs and mental health professionals on site, enabling the charity to provide clinical services to achieve clinical outcomes.
Electrical Contractor ‘Electrical Integrated Services’ approached Dextra to provide several products for the new building. They worked in conjunction with Ashlar Construction (NW) Limited to deliver the project for the end client.
THE PRODUCTS
AMENITY DECORATIVE
The Amenity Decorative range offers an attractive solution for amenity applications such as corridors and stairwells and is manufactured from robust injection moulded polycarbonate.
The Amenity Decorative was required to give illumination to the stairwells where integral emergency lighting was also required. This gives a serviceable solution where it isn’t viable to mount lighting to the ceilings above the stairs
A total of 5 were installed.

BTEC
The BTEC Downlight is ideal for customers who need a premium quality downlight with high quality LEDs and drivers as well as excellent efficiency for a rapid return on investment
The BTEC offered a competitive and efficient downlight, used in areas with reduced ceiling voids.

LED4S
The LED4 Surface offers a standalone emergency solution for applications where ceilings are unable to accommodate recessed installation.
The LED4 Surface was selected to give a separate emergency solution, but keeping it as discrete as possible within the exposed ceiling.
A total of 23 were installed.

EXI3
The EXI3 is a slim line polycarbonate emergency exit sign available in both standard and self test variants with lithium batteries as standard.
The EXI3 provided the building with a modern slimline Exit sign highlighting the escape routes during a power failure.

HBE3
This highly versatile exit sign is designed to suit nearly all emergency exit applications.
The HBE3 compliments the EXI3 where the Exit signs are required to be suspended from the ceiling.

AMENITY EXTERIOR – EYELID
The Amenity Exterior Eyelid is manufactured with a tough and durable die cast aluminium housing and injection moulded polycarbonate diffuser.
The Amenity Exterior was used to give good general lighting to the entrance areas, while complimenting the building finish.

OPUS SCONCE
The Opus Sconce is ideally suited to external applications such as entrances, walkways or to highlight architectural features.
The colour and shape matched the exterior drainage system, as well as providing decorative bi-directional lighting to the main elevations of the building. A total of 11 were installed.

RUNWAY CONTINUOUS RECESSED
A slim line aluminium luminaire available in three colour options suitable for recessed installation in continuous runs.
The ceilings were to be left exposed, so the Runway was selected to fit within the vision of the building. Allowing decorative suspended lighting in the form of continuous rectangles and lines complimenting the exposed ceiling.
