PERTHCELYN COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL
Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council is the third largest local authority in Wales. The local authority has used Dextra for many years because of its ability to produce the best lighting solutions for its wide and varied corporate estates, such as schools, throughout the county.
Perthcelyn School is a vibrant, forward-thinking school at the heart of the community, with a strong set of values and professionalism. The school is a member of the global Eco-Schools network. Eco-Schools is the largest global sustainable schools programme – it starts in the classroom and expands to the community by engaging the next generation in action-based learning, producing generation after generation of sustainably minded, environmentally conscious people
As a result of this, the school is also very aware of the sustainability of its buildings. The main school building was identified as having a low energy rating because old fluorescent T8 and T5 lights were being used. Instead, similar LED solutions were implemented, saving the school ever increasing energy costs.
